The Miami Marlins 1-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers was also a historical win for the franchise.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. came into the Wednesday night game with six career leadoff homeruns, and added one more to it to start the bottom of the first inning. The homerun was his second leadoff homerun of the season, and his seventh overall. With Chisholm's 374 foot homer, it marked the first 1-0 win in Marlins history when the only run came off a leadoff homerun. It would be all the Marlins and Jesus Luzardo would need the rest of the way for the win.
Luzardo pitched a career high eight innings. The 26 year-old lefty was so dominate in those eight inning, he threw for 10 pitches or less in five of those eight innings. However, it wasn't just Luzardo responsible for the win, as he only recorder four strikeouts, and the rest of the team coming up with some crafty glove work around the field.
The Marlins now take the show on the road to Arizona for three game set against the Diamondbacks starting on Friday. First pitch is set for 9:40 p.m., and coverage beginning 9:10 p.m. on Fox Sports 940am, or listen locally on the iHeartRadio App.
