More than 26-years after a brutal rape and murder inside a Miami Beach apartment, a Jamaican man is brought back to South Florida to face charges.
Detectives say Dale Ewers knocked on the victim's door and asked for the building manager's phone number.
When she left the door open, he walked in, closed the door and put a gun to the second victim's head.
He's accused of eventually turning the gun on the first victim and pulled the trigger.
As she lay dying, he allegedly raped the second victim.
DNA linked Ewers to the crime back in 2012, but he had already been deported back to Jamaica after serving a jail sentence for crimes in Massachusetts.
That year the surviving victim also positively identified Ewers in a photo lineup.
The arrest warrant wasn't issued and approved until last October.
Jamaican authorities then took Ewers into custody on pending burglary charges.
Last month, issues with the burglary case were resolved and he was extradited yesterday.
The 53-year-old is now facing first-degree murder, armed robbery, armed sexual battery and armed kidnapping charges.
