A federal mandate for health care workers in Florida to get vaccinated goes into effect today.
Anyone who works in a facility that takes part in Medicaid and Medicare programs must be vaccinated against COVID-19 starting today.
Some exceptions do apply.
Florida Hospital Association President and CEO Mary Mayhew says health care facilities including nursing homes and hospitals are making strides in meeting the requirement.
Mayhew says hospitals are already short staffed and providing timely access to health care is dependent on having staff available.
