The Toronto Maple Leafs rallied to a 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night in Toronto. The win gives the Leafs a 3-2 series lead, and has pushed the Bolts to the brink of elimination in the best-of-seven first round playoff series.
The Lightning started the game hot, and got goals from Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman fifty-two seconds apart in the first period to take an early 2-0 lead. The Maple Leafs answered with a goal in the second, and scored the first two goals of the third period to take a 3-2 lead.
Though Ryan McDonagh was able to tie the game 3-3 with a goal at the 8:17 mark of the third period, Austin Matthews answered with a goal at the 13:54 mark of the final period to lift Toronto to a 4-3 win.
Andrei Vasilevskiy went 21-for-25 in net for the Bolts in the losing effort, while Toronto's Jack Campbell saved 32 of the 35 shots he faced to pick up the win.
The Lightning now look to stay alive in the playoff series when the series shifts to Toronto for Game 6 on Thursday night. Puck drop Thursday is scheduled for 7:30 PM - pregame coverage begins at 6:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
