McClanahan's Dominance Leads Rays To Victory In First Game of Doubleheader

The Tampa Bay Rays (41-36) defeated the Toronto Blue Jays (44-34) 6-2 on Saturday afternoon in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

Shane McClanahan (9-3, 1.74) was the story of this one, pitching a brilliant seven innings on one run b all in which he allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out then.

The Rays got some big hits when they needed them as well. After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Isaac Paredes tied the game with a solo shot in the third inning. The Rays then added three in the fifth, thanks to big hits from Randy Arozarena and Rene Pinto, and a solo homer from Wander Franco in the sixth to pull away with this victory.

The Rays will now look to sweep the Blue Jays in the second game of the day-night doubleheader tonight. First pitch on Saturday night is scheduled for 6:07 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
