The No. 10 Miami Hurricanes advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game with a 31-27 win against the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl Thursday (January 8) night.
Quarterback Carson Beck scored on a game-winning 3-yard touchdown run with 18 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Beck, who transferred from Georgia this past offseason, threw for 268 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 23 of 37 passing.
The Hurricanes rallied back from a 27-24 deficit after Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss led a six-play, 75-yard go-ahead drive with 3:13 remaining in the fourth quarter, which was capped off by a 24-yard touchdown pass to Da'Quan Wright, followed by a successful two-point conversion pass to Kewan Lacy. The Hurricanes' game-winning touchdown was the fourth lead change in the fourth quarter.
Miami will make its first National Championship Game appearance since its loss to Ohio State in the 2003 BCS Fiesta Bowl. The Hurricanes defeated Texas A&M, 10-3, in the first-round of the College Football Playoff and No. 2 Ohio State, 24-14, in the Cotton Bowl Classic College Football Playoff Quarterfinal.
Miami will face the winner of Friday's (January 9) College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl matchup between the No. 5 Oregon Ducks and No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers in the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship Game at their home field, Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami Gardens on January 19.
