Yankees Eclipse Marlins

The Miami Marlins fell to 1-10 after losing to the Yankees 7-0 in New York.

The Yankees used two three-run homeruns in the fourth inning to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Though they would get one more run in the fifth, the fourth inning was all the offense the Yanks needed. On the mound for the Yankees was Nestor Cortez of Hialeah High, and he didn't miss on the opportunity in facing his hometown team. Cortez went eight-inning with six strikeouts and allowed only two hits.

Jesus Luzardo started for the Marlins. Luzardo got off to a strong start, only allowing one hit heading into the the fourth inning. It was then that Luzardo gave up a three-run blast to Anthony Volpe, and then another three-run homer to Juan Soto four batters later in the inning. If it couldn't sound any worse, the lone offense of the game for the Fish was Bryan De La Cruz going 2-for-4 for the only two hits of the night.

The Marlins look to bounce back against the Yankees on Tuesday. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m., with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. on Fox Sports 940am, or listen locally on the iHeartRadio App.
