Padres Prayers Answered Against Marlins

The Miami Marlins dropped the series opener against the San Diego Padres, 2-1.

As most games have been going for the Marlins lately, the game was a pitching duel between Trevor Rogers for the Marlins and Michael King for the Padres. Both pitchers were great through five innings of work, with the exception of both giving up solo homeruns. King was replaced to start the fifth inning, and the Padres bullpen kept the Fish scoreless the rest of the way. Rogers started the fifth inning for the Marlins, but only recorded one out. The Marlins bullpen, which has been great as of late, picked up where Rogers left off. However, it would be two errors that would end up hooking the Fish. Both errors were committed by shortstop Tim Anderson, and would load the bases to setup the Padres go-ahead-run to be scored on a walk.

Game two is set for Tuesday with Jesus Luzardo getting the nod for the Marlins, and Matt Waldron for the Padres. First pitch is set for 9:40 p.m., with coverage beginning 9:10 p.m. on Fox Sports 940am, or listen locally on the iHeartRadio App.
