ICE confirms that 70 illegal immigrants have been taken into custody over the past few days in Martin County and are facing deportation.
The feds received assistance from the Florida Highway Patrol, but Sheriff John Budensiek says his agency was not involved.
"We didn't make any of the arrests and they didn't come to our jail. They were taken by the Border Patrol. I saw a picture of their Border Patrol van, taken by the Border Patrol to either Krome (Detention Center) or to a facility across the state."
He tells CBS 12 News that it appears while the initial targets of ICE were so-called "criminal aliens," agents are now also going after anyone in the country illegally.
His advice would be to self-deport.
The traffic stop operation in Indiantown targeted commercial landscaping vehicles.
