Miami-Dade County, FL - A misdemeanor domestic battery charge against professional boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis was dropped in Miami-Dade County this week.

According to court records, the case was officially closed on Tuesday, roughly one month after Davis was arrested on the charge.

Davis, 30, was taken into custody just after midnight on July 11th near Lincoln Road in Miami Beach.

Authorities used a license plate reader to identify Davis’ vehicle after his information was entered into a law enforcement database.

Miami Beach police conducted the initial traffic stop and then transferred Davis to the Doral Police Department.

He was released shortly after on a $10,000 bond.

The charge stemmed from a June incident involving Davis and his former domestic partner in Doral, a city located in western Miami-Dade County.

According to the police report, Davis’ former partner, who is the mother of his two children, said that during an argument she was taking one of their children out of Davis’ car when he allegedly slapped her and struck the back of her head.

Davis is from Baltimore and is considered one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the sport.

The WBA lightweight champion started his professional career undefeated in 30 fights,

winning 28 by knockout. His powerful punches have drawn sold-out audiences in major cities including New York, Washington, and Las Vegas.

No further legal proceedings have been reported regarding this case.
