FLORIDA - Florida’s tourism industry delivered a major economic boost in 2024, according to new findings from VISIT FLORIDA’s annual economic impact study.

The report shows that travel and tourism generated an estimated $133.6 billion for the state’s economy, marking one of the strongest years on record.

The data indicates that out-of-state visitors spent $134.9 billion in Florida last year, an increase of three percent from 2023.

Of that total, domestic travelers accounted for $120.1 billion and international visitors contributed $14.8 billion.

The study notes that nearly every dollar spent by travelers remained within the state, reinforcing tourism’s role as a key economic driver.

Florida also reached a new milestone with approximately 143 million visitors in 2024, the highest total ever recorded.

According to the report, tourism activity supported about 1.8 million jobs statewide and generated $79.9 billion in wages across hospitality, service, entertainment and related industries.

Tax revenue linked to tourism also provided significant fiscal benefits.

Tourism activity produced an estimated $33.6 billion in federal, state and local tax revenues in 2024.

Based on the state’s analysis, these revenues reduced the tax burden on Florida’s more than nine million households by nearly $2,000 each.

VISIT FLORIDA officials stated that the latest figures highlight the continued impact of tourism on employment, tax contributions and overall economic growth.

The organization’s analysis concludes that visitor spending played a central role in strengthening Florida’s economy throughout 2024.
