Brandon Beane’s Excuses Won’t Fly

Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane addressed the media yesterday and tried to justify why they were unable to compete with teams like the Cincinnati Bengals who have quarterbacks still on their rookie contracts. And while Doug agrees there is some truth to what Beane is saying, Dan Beyer reminds Doug that salary cap issues are simply part of a GM’s job, and the Chiefs don’t seem to be having a problem after paying Patrick Mahomes.

Doug Gottlieb: “The way to build a team is with a quarterback on a rookie contract...it would be easier to have more weapons if your quarterback wasn’t making so much money.”

Dan Beyer: “All these GM’s have jobs to do and (Brandon Beane) hasn’t figured out a way to make it work.”
