Dan Beyer: “The NFL season is just so long, and an absolute grind. There are some teams that haven’t had byes yet. In Week 14, there are six teams that will be on bye, and the Packers are one of them. Look at how bad the teams are that have a Week 14 bye: the Packers, Falcons, Colts, Saints, Bears and Washington. What good is a bye in Week 14? ... We talked about it last week after the Titans-Packers game, how Aaron Rodgers didn’t look like he wanted to be there. Maybe he’s just exhausted, and the late bye is taking a huge toll on him.”
Mike Harmon: “The only team in that group of Week 14 byes that is still ‘in it,’ are the Commanders, and they’re even a long-shot to make the playoffs. All of those teams had high-hopes before the season. I’m not a fan of the late byes, either. There are no byes in Week 12, two teams in Week 13 and then the six in Week 14. Arizona is that Week 13 group, and the late bye could be a product of the lack of effort we saw from them last night in the 4th quarter.”
Mike Harmon and Dan Beyer discuss how NFL teams with a late bye this season have struggled mightily this season. Could the late bye be a direct result of these teams’ downfalls? Listen to the full segment above!
